Windows are a wonderful place where the comfort and ambiance of the indoors connect with the light and colours of nature.

Crack a window open, and the fragrance in the room immediately transforms.  Freshness.  The season enters your room through the air: fresh cut grass, new blossoms from a nearby lilac tree, the woody smell of wet soil.

The sounds gravitate to meet you.  Urban sounds, mingled with the sounds of nature.  Children playing, the mesmerizing rustle of leaves in a soft breeze, birds, a car driving by.

Wherever I go, I always ask for the window seat.

  1. I always go for a window seat apart from on a plane!
It suddenly warmed up here in the UK last week, so I’ve had all the windows flung wide every day. You’re right, can’t beat letting in the air – especially at Winter’s end.

    1. Glad to hear that the weather is starting to warm up for you guys, too. We had a beautiful Saturday yesterday. I went for a walk and actually felt hot. We have several lilac trees in the backyard and I am looking forward to seeing them bloom and opening my windows to their fragrance. 🙂 So true, what a sweet treat to open windows after a long winter! Sometimes I open windows in the winter, too (just a tiny, tiny crack, and not for very long), because I love the fresh air, but it isn’t the same at all! Thanks for the comment.
